Well – the newsletter is a little delayed this round – mostly because so much has been happening that we can’t stop to write it all down! Group 70+ has just participated in some of the most exciting events of the year – and there’s still more to come. Check out the schedule for the upcoming CRDA/VARAC weekend on August 26/27 at Mosport – lots of great track time!

CRDA/VARAC President’s Trophy Races – Mosport (August 26/27)

Sign up now for next weekend’s event. The provisional schedule and regulations have been released and it looks to be a spectacular weekend. Once again G70+ will have a full grid and VARAC will be holding its annual Vintage/Historic/G70+ Relay Race as the final race on Saturday. Remember how much fun it was last year? Come early as the paddock looks to be quite full – this weekend is also hosting the Quebec Touring Races as well as their GTO, GTU and GTX sprint grids. If you won’t be racing – at least come and watch the fun.

Once again the VARAC Vintage Festival was a resounding success. Group 70+ had 32 cars registered – a fantastic turnout! Some beautiful new additions and the glorious regulars.

Race Report – Molson Grand Prix, Vintage GT Challenge (July 7/8/9)

And for many of us – what was the highlight of our racing careers! Thanks so much to Jonathon, Dino and Alister of Time Warp Racing for organizing such an incredible event. Many spectators claimed it was the race of the weekend – hopefully offering new exposure to racing fans. We look forward to seeing some new spectators at upcoming VARAC events! Race Report – BARC Touring Trophy – Mosport (August 12/13)

Another great Group 70+ grid after what seemed like a long pause in the racing schedule. (Time devoted to neglected family, household chores and the cottage!) Some fantastic racing took place at last weekend’s event – there were a few “bunched” groups that stuck together almost all weekend.

2006 VARAC Driver’s Challenge

The VARAC Driver’s Challenge groups are the following for Group 70+

Group E – up to and including 1:37.000

Group F – from 1:37.001 to 1:41.000

Group G – including and over 1:41.001

These were a little messed up at the last BARC weekend, we’re trying to sort them out for the scoring. Points are posted on the VARAC events page www.varac.ca/events.html Please keep an eye out and if you have any questions or would like to register for the championship, please contact Stefan Weisen at wiesen@sympatico.ca

Group 70+ is a VARAC promoted racing class that currently celebrates the history of racing from 1973 to 1987. VARAC is the association of vintage racecars in Canada that celebrates the passion of preserving, restoring and racing vintage racecars.
