VARAC G70+ Updates and News
December 2005 / January 2006
Happy Holidays! Wishing everyone the best for the holidays
and a festive new year. It wont be long before racing
season is upon us
Im sure that I just tucked the
race car away for the winter and already its time
to start getting ready for the spring thaw!
2006 plans to be a very special year for racing, especially
on the G70+ front. There has been some exciting new additions
over the winter and as you probably know by now, the annual
VARAC Vintage Festival will be featuring the cars of Trans-Am
(as part of the international Trans-Am 40th anniversary celebration).
VARAC Annual General Meeting Saturday, November
26th
The VARAC Annual General Meeting was held on Saturday, November
26th at the Boulevard Club in Toronto, Ontario. A well attended
meeting, the year-end summaries were delivered by the various
department heads and important voting to positions was held.
Thanks to all who sent in proxy forms to include their participation.
Jonathon Brett and myself were voted in again as the co-eligibility
chairs of the Group 70+ class and more importantly G70+
participant Del Bruce was voted to the VARAC Board of Directors,
Director at Large position. (Del owns that beautiful yellow
Porsche 935
) Dels passion for historic cars will
be well served on the BoD and a huge thank-you to him for stepping
up. The G70+ mission this year is to continue building the grid,
while increasing the focus on period eligibility. Checkout http://www.varac.ca/contacts.html
for the listing of the new BoD.
VARAC Year End Banquet Saturday, November 26th
The year-end banquet was a big hit! Dinner was delicious, the
company fantastic and our truly brilliant emcee Gord Lowe had
us all laughing. This year awards were presented for the VARAC
drivers championship a fun competition
where many were rewarded for straight out participation and
consistency. Thanks to our grand race director Stefan Wiesen
for organizing the drivers challenge and tallying the
points not an easy job! Thanks to Walter Davies for organizing
the year-end social!

the form is available at www.varac.ca/technical.html.
Well be following up in the spring to make sure all cars
are registered.
CASC-OR Business
- Time to renew for your 2006 CASC-OR license! http://www.casc.on.ca/forms.php
- The annual CASC-OR Awards Banquet awarded top drivers
in the Vintage/Historic and Group 70+ categories. A wonderful
slide show of on-track activities included quite a few VARAC
cars!
- The preliminary CASC-OR event schedule is up. Were not
sure what weekends will include VARAC participation
but well let you know as soon as we can! http://www.casc.on.ca/events.php
And last but not least
Group 70+ is a VARAC promoted racing class that currently
celebrates the history of racing from 1973 to 1987. VARAC is
the association of vintage racecars in Canada that celebrates
the passion of preserving, restoring and racing vintage racecars.
You're on this email list because somewhere along the line
you expressed an interest in VARAC's Group 70+, perhaps in the
capacity of driver, organizer, spectator or just plain keener
trying to keep on top of things in the racing world. Let me
know if you don't want to be on the list anymore, or feel free
to pass it on to others who might be interested.
