VARAC G70+ Updates and News
November 2005

Well – the VARAC social scene has started up and high on your list should be the AGM, and Annual Dinner and Dance. Trading your tires in for tap shoes? You bet…

VARAC – Annual General Meeting – Saturday, November 26th

Participation and voting members are extremely important for ANY club – so come out and support the VARAC AGM. As last year, this event will start up at 9:00am at the Boulevard Club in Toronto. If you’re not able to attend – PLEASE FILL OUT A PROXY FORM and mail it in NOW. (Available in the latest issue of VR. (Let me know if you you’re having trouble locating it.) The VARAC Board also has a couple of very important positions that are coming open and any member in good standing may run for these positions. Treasurer, Festival Director, Membership Director and Director-at-Large (as well as the eligibility committee reps) will be open for election by members – so get involved! For anyone that is interested in these positions please contact John Greenwood at 905-723-9334 or haggisbasher@sympatico.ca

VARAC – Year End Banquet – Saturday, November 26th

And the celebration begins – so let’s get everyone out to socialize! The VARAC Annual Dinner and Dance will be held at The Boulevard Club on Saturday, November 26th. This has been a very successful year for the Club, thanks to the great support from the members so tickets have been subsidized by the club and are available at only $95/couple. (This is the same event and menu (delicious by the way!) that last year cost $150/couple!) Contact Walter Davies at elva7racer@rogers.com for more information and tickets.

VARAC Driver’s Championship

Congratulations to all the participants this year! While VARAC typically does not put any emphasis on competition, this year’s race director introduced a strictly-for-fun Driver’s Championship. Driver’s were grouped by their most common racing classes and average lap times. Points were earned for attendance, sessions completed and final positions. Special mention goes to Russ Gorochowski who accumulated the most G70+ points and will be awarded the Annual CASC G70+ Trophy at the CASC Banquet on November 12th! Way to go Russ! (Drivers standards are available at http://www.varac.ca/PDFs/Championship%20Standings%20final%20class.pdf

And last but not least…

Ice Racing Anyone? Regulations posted and dates announced – all we need now is snow! See http://www.casc.on.ca/iceRacing.php for more info.

Group 70+ is a VARAC promoted racing class that currently celebrates the history of racing from 1973 to 1987. VARAC is the association of vintage racecars in Canada that celebrates the passion of preserving, restoring and racing vintage racecars.

You're on this email list because somewhere along the line you expressed an interest in VARAC's Group 70+, perhaps in the capacity of driver, organizer, spectator or just plain keener trying to keep on top of things in the racing world. Let me know if you don't want to be on the list anymore, or feel free to pass it on to others who might be interested.
