Putting the "Can" back in Can-Am the Vintage Automobile
Racing Association of Canada (VARAC) has announced that the Twenty-ninth
Annual Vintage Festival will feature the "Great Cars of Can-Am".
Mosport, the site of the third ever Can-Am, went on to host more
Can-Am races than any other track and was
the scene of many memorable Can-Am battles. The announcement has been
greeted with great enthusiasm by owners eager to have the opportunity to
drive the cars on the track that they were driven in anger on when new.
If you haven't driven Mosport before this is a great opportunity,
here are some quotes from others who have enjoyed Mosport:
Divina Galica after the 2007 Festival featuring F1:
"I thought the event at Mosport was great. Plenty of track time, great
organization, excellent corner workers, and amazing parties"
Burt Levy:
"It is simultaneously and without reservation, the most exciting,
dramatic, rhythmic, and demanding stretch of roadway I've ever encountered.
Period. I heartily recommend the Mosport experience to anybody who wishes
to consider their North American Race Driver Portfolio even remotely complete."
With the anticipation of Can-Am thunder again rumbling up the Mario
Andretti straight the VARAC Vintage Festival promises to be one on the
highlights of the 2008 Vintage season. The excitement is not limited to
Can-Am with a Fiftieth Anniversary of Austin Healey Sprites race, the MG
Feature for the Simms Cup, a German Challenge Race, plus races for all
classes of Vintage and Historic Cars. Circle June 20-22 on your 2008
calendar now! If you can only make one race next year, this should be it.
