Founded in 1976, the Vintage Automobile Racing Association of Canada (VARAC) is the largest vintage racing club in Canada. The organization was established by a group of passionate racers dedicated to preserving, restoring, and competing with historically significant cars, keeping them as close to their original specifications as possible.

Over the years, VARAC has grown into a thriving community that celebrates the heritage of motorsport while fostering camaraderie among vintage racing enthusiasts.

VARAC Annual Racing Events

The Club has two signature events, the annual VARAC Vintage Grand Prix held every Father's Day weekend on the Mosport track at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park, and the one- day Peter Jackson Races at Shannonville Motorsports Park. We feature grids of open- and closed-wheel cars from the 1950's through 2005.

In addition, the Club fields multiple grids at CASC-OR regional race weekends throughout the year, as well as at Mt. Trembant and Calabogie.

Race Classes

We’re dedicated to the restoration and racing of vintage and historic race cars—from the 1950s through to the early 2000s. Whether you’re behind the wheel, lending a hand, or cheering from the sidelines, there’s a place for you here. We race across three classes:

  • VH (Vintage Historic): Production-based and sports cars from the 1950s, ’60s, and ’70s

  • Classic/Modern Classic: Production-based and sports cars from the 1980s, ’90s, and ’00s

  • FC (Formula Classic): Open-wheel formula race cars build before 2000

Our community is built on respect, support, and a shared love for racing. We welcome new racers, value sportsmanship, and aim to keep the competition spirited yet clean. Aggressive driving and contact aren’t our style—but make no mistake, we race hard and have a blast doing it.

Join us—as a racer, volunteer, or spectator. You’ll be glad you did.
